About us

Volz Servos is one of the most demanded experts of electromechanical actuators for robotics, uncrewed vehicles and many other applications that drive future technologies.

Drones, for example, in which such actuators are used first and foremost, are now able to revolutionize both local and supraregional transport systems. With its expertise in this area, Volz Servos offers tried-and-tested technology that can easily go into series production.

The result: solutions that are manufactured under strict quality controls, meet the highest standards of functional safety and reliability and are perfectly tailored to the needs of your project.

To this end, Volz Servos works closely with its subsidiary Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH (AEE), which is an EASA approved production (Part 21G), maintenance (Part 145), and alternative design organization (Part 21O).

In short, Volz Servos can develop individual, certifiable actuators that comply with both European and U.S. aviation law.

Volz Servos' portfolio forms the basis for a wide range of applications in vertical mobility and modern avionics. Thanks to their design and proven features, actuators from Volz Ser-vos are rightly the benchmark for reliability today.

In addition, actuators from Volz Servos fully comply with the safety requirements and regu-lations stipulated by national and international aviation authorities. For this, Volz Servos works closely with its subsidiary Aircraft Electronic Engineering GmbH (AEE), which con-forms to all regulations as an EASA approved production (Part 21G), maintenance (Part 145) and alternative design organization (Part 21O).

Even when selecting components in the development phase, it is crucial to use trustworthy, reliable and certifiable parts in order to ultimately obtain the certification required for oper-ation. This is where Volz Servos comes into play.

DA 15-N Brushless Actuator

The DA 15‐N is our smallest and lightest full brushless actuator, designed for use in harsh environments and tested for over 4000 hours. With a brushless motor and contactless position sensing system, the DA 15‐N greatly diminishes electromagnetic noise and is immune to wear, vibrations and shock. The HART‐coat treated aluminum housing is saltwater‐resistant and is IP‐67 rated for water and dust protection.

The DA 15-N provides a peak torque of up to 60 Ncm at 6-16V.

DA 30-HT Brushless Actuator

Our DA 30 features a brushless motor and a contactless wear free position sensor. This means maximum service life with the greatest‐possible power delivery and its design prevents electromagnetic emissions (EMI) caused by brush sparking. The housing made of saltwater‐resistant aluminum is HART‐coat treated, meets the IP‐67 standard for water and dust sealing and provides an integrated Sub‐D connector (MIL spec. circular connector or cable gland on request).

DA 58-D Redundant Actuator

With a peak torque of >200Nm / 1770 lbf-in and a rated torque of 80Nm / 708 lbf-in, the fully redundant DA 58-D is the strongest, electromechanical, fully integrated (actuator control electronics, position sensing, motor and drivetrain in one housing) actuator in the market. Besides the well proven redundant RS 485 interface the DA 58-D also features a redundant CAN bus interface.

DA 22-BLDC Brushless Actuator

The DA 22 BLDC is the next generation of our proven DA 22 actuator range, featuring a brushless BLDC motor and contactless position sensing. To guarantee maximum safety and reliability, its brushless motor and contactless, wear free position sensing system makes the DA 22 BLDC immune to wear, vibrations and shock loads. It has especially been designed for the usage in harsh environments and for safety critical applications that require an actuator with high endurance. The conductive aluminum case and the shielded connection cable are reducing the susceptibility to any kind to EMI/RFI noise to the absolute minimum.

The CNC machined sealed cases, made of saltwater resistant aluminum, comply with the IP 67 standard for water/dust resistance. All types of our DA 22 BLDC actuators use all steel gear trains with ISS gear protection system as an option and are fully programmable (motor overload protection, Fail Safe Position in case of PWM command signal lost, etc.). The DA 22 BLDC features an industrial circular connector with M9 thread. Optionally available with a MIL specified connector or an integrated shielded cable with cable gland. The cases offer integrated lug mounts for both horizontal and vertical installation.

The DA 22 BLDC with digital serial command interface (RS-485) receives its commands via a CRC secured protocol. It can return not only the shaft position in digital format, but also several diagnostic data such as the supply voltage reading, current consumption and the internal temperature in digital form (optionally also the humidity within actuator case). These kinds of diagnostic capabilities help to determine the health state of the actuator before, during and after deployment.

DA 30-HT-D Redundant Actuator

The fully redundant DA 30-HT-D has been developed for applications with highest reliability demands. The redundant – two channel – design of the actuator allows continuous operation even if one of the two channels should fail. All major components such as the electric motors, control and communication electronics, and power supply are available twice (redundant). The position sensor features a three channel design (for 2 out of 3 voting). Additionally there are several sensors integrated to provide diagnostic information such as current consumption, supply voltage levels and temperature readings. All major components of the actuator are continuously diagnosed by the microcontrollers of the actuator and its health status can be read via the redundant RS485 interface.
