Nordmetall GmbH is a research and engineering service provider working in the pre-competitive field of materials and product development. Nearly 100% of project related work is referred to R&D projects. The projects are partly nationally and internationally funded, however, major project work is industrial R&D work.

Originally founded in 2003 as a spin-off from Chemnitz University of Technology, Nordmetall GmbH today is a globally recognized expert for customized recipes for materials, material data and models, high-rate and LT / HT testing technologies, and additive layer manufacturing. Utilizing the expertise of 18 highly professional and experienced scientists and technicians under the administration of Dr. Norman Herzig, the company offers a holistic competence for investigations of structural materials in application relevant loading cases. We are providing validated tools for numerical simulations in research and development and offering holistic strategies for the development and application of tailored materials including material development by microstructure design and material development for additive manufacturing. Thereby, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, lightweight materials, polymers, ceramics and glasses as well as particle and fiber reinforced materials are considered.

We are the international partner for aerospace, automotive and maritime industry, in civil and defence applications.
